Explorer 1 (Alpha 1 1958)[2] merupakan satelit bumi pertama milik Amerika Syarikat, kapal angkasa ini diluncurkan ke ISS pada 1 Februari 1958. Misi ini diikuti dua satelit pertama Bumi setahun sebelumnya, Sputnik 1 dan Sputnik 2 milik Kesatuan Soviet, yang merupakan pesaing utama di antara kedua-dua buah negara.
Explorer 1 diluncurkan pada 31 Januari 1958 pukul 22:48 Waktu Asia (sama dengan tanggal 1 Februari 03:48 UTC kerana perubahan waktu perjalanannya yang tengah malam) di atas pendorong Juno pertama dari LC-26 di Cape Canaveral Missile Annex, Florida, Amerika Syarikat. Explorer 1 mengalami masalah pengecasan bateri. Baterinya semakin lemah setelah empat bulan mengorbit di ISS. Namun begitu, Explorer 1 tetap mengorbit sehingga tahun 1970 (12 tahun) sebelum memasuki atmosfera bumi pada 31 Mac 1970.
