Columbanus

Columbanus ( Ireland: Columbán; 543 – 23 November 615) [1] ialah seorang mubaligh Ireland yang terkenal kerana mengasaskan beberapa biara selepas 590 di kerajaan Frank dan Lombard, terutamanya Biara Luxeuil di Perancis sekarang dan Biara Bobbio di Itali masa kini.
Columbanus mengajar peraturan monastik Ireland dan amalan pertaubatan bagi mereka yang bertaubat daripada dosa, yang menekankan pengakuan peribadi kepada seorang imam, diikuti dengan penebusan dosa yang dikenakan oleh imam sebagai penebusan dosa. Columbanus adalah salah seorang penulis Hiberno-Latin terawal yang boleh dikenal pasti. [1]
