2パック （トゥーパック[ 1] トゥパック・アマル・シャクール （Tupac Amaru Shakur）、 1971年 6月16日 - 1996年 9月13日 ）は、アメリカ合衆国 のヒップホップMC 、俳優 である。ニューヨーク市 マンハッタン区 ハーレム地区 出身、アフリカン・アメリカン 。元デジタル・アンダーグラウンド のメンバー。
名の「トゥパック・アマル」は、古代インカ 語で「輝ける龍」の意味（インカ帝国 最後の皇帝トゥパク・アマル と、彼の2代目を自称し反乱を起こしたホセ・ガブリエル・コンドルカンキ （トゥパク・アマル2世）の名前から）。身長 176センチメートル [ 2]
サイン 「ローリング・ストーン の選ぶ歴史上最も偉大な100組のアーティスト 」において第86位[ 3]
2パックの両親、アフェニ・シャクールとビリー・ガーランドは、二人ともブラックパンサー党 の党員だった[ 4] 1979年 に脱獄後キューバに亡命中のアサータ・シャクールもいた。
幼少期をブロンクス で過ごし、その後西海岸へ移住し、レイ・ラブとグループを組んだ。1991年 、「MCニューヨーク」というMC ネームでデジタル・アンダーグラウンド （Digital Underground）の一員として、グループの曲「Same Song」に参加した。脱退後は「2パカリプス・ナウ」で2パックとしてソロ・デビュー。1992年 には映画「ジュース 」に出演、ヒップポップ アーティストだけでなく俳優としても注目された。
アルバムに収録された曲が、副大統領のダン・クエール から非難されたことがある[ 5] ショーン・コムズ とノトーリアス・B.I.G. がいたことから、この事件はバッド・ボーイ・レコード （二人が所属し、ショーン・コムズが代表を務める東海岸の音楽レーベル）の陰謀だと疑い、ヒップホップ界は西海岸と東海岸とで激しく対立する。銃撃の怪我も癒えない1995年 、ファンにアナルセックス を強要したレイプ 疑惑で4年6ヶ月の判決を受ける。刑務所内で西海岸のデス・ロウ・レコード と契約。9ヶ月の服役後、デス・ロウ・レコードのオーナーであるシュグ・ナイト が用立てた140万ドルの保釈金で出所。最初はこの保釈金はレーベルからの贈与であったが、後にレーベルが2パックに返済を要求したため、デス・ロウ・レコードに在籍し続けた。また、「Hit 'Em Up 」では、ノトーリアス・B.I.G.と、バッド・ボーイ・レコードを非難していた。
大ヒットアルバム「オール・アイズ・オン・ミー」発表後、出所前に獄中で読んだ本で出会ったイタリア の政治思想家ニッコロ・マキャヴェッリ に感銘を受け、自身のアーティスト名を「マキャベリ （Makaveli（The Don Killuminati））」と改名。
1996年 9月8日 、ラスベガス で友人のボクサー、マイク・タイソン の試合を観戦後、乗車中のBMW に横付けしてきたキャデラック から銃撃され4発被弾、6日後の9月13日に死亡。25歳没[ 6]
以前は、犯人や動機は判明しておらず、後に同様何者かに殺害されたノトーリアス・B.I.G. と並び、アメリカ東西海岸ヒップホップ抗争の犠牲者と言われている。東海岸側の犯行が噂され、また彼の命日は13日の金曜日 であったため、様々な憶測が飛び交ったが、2パックの母親はこの事件に関して、メディアにビギーとディディではない別の数名の具体的な名前を挙げて非難している。死後、マキャベリ名義でアルバム「ザ・ドン・キルミナティ・ザ・7デイズ・セオリー」が発表される。2012年、ジェームス・ローズモンド（en:James Rosemond ）がスタジオで2パックを撃ったと証言している。また、事件の前に関係していたブラッズ のメンバーと共にクリップス メンバーであるオーランド・アンダーソンへの暴行を行なっており、その報復であったという証言もある。
その後、2023年9月29日、 ラスベガスの地元警察 は、サウスサイド・コンプトン・クリップスのメンバーのキーフィー・Dことドゥエイン・デイヴィス(Duane Davis ）を、2パックの殺害を指示したとして、殺人の疑いで逮捕した[ 7] [ 8]
死後も多数の未発表音源が発掘され、新作がリリースされている。2パックに憧れていたエミネム を始め[ 9] ドクター・ドレー 、スヌープ・ドッグ のステージには、ホログラムで登場した。
2パックのドキュメンタリー映画 『トゥパック:レザレクション 』は、2005年 アカデミー賞 長編ドキュメンタリー映画としてノミネートされた。初期の音源は彼の母親であるアフェニ・シャクールが管理していたが、現在は大半の権利をエミネム に売り渡したため、昨今のアルバムはエミネムがエグゼクティブ・プロデューサーを務めている。また、デス・ロウ時代の音源はシュグ・ナイトがマーダー・インク（Murder Inc、現The Inc）やナズ （Nas）等の他レーベルに売り渡している。2017年 には伝記映画 『オール・アイズ・オン・ミー 』が公開された（監督：ベニー・ブーム （英語版 ） ディミートリアス・シップ・Jr （英語版 ）
ロサンゼルス のギャング 組織及びギャングスタ・ラップ におけるウエストサイド とはサウスセントラル 地区の110フリーウェイで東西に区切られた西側を指す言葉であり、カリフォルニア を指す場合はあくまでウエストコースト と呼ばれる(一般的にも〜サイドとは市や地域の一部に対して使われる言葉である)。ニューヨーク に生まれベイエリア のオークランド と渡り歩いてきた2パックにとってはロサンゼルスのギャング事情がわからなかったためにカリフォルニア＝ウエストサイドと誤用してしまったとみられている。
