Well, it seems that my situation is hopless. The block will never be lifted anyway, so I have no other option than shut down my Wikipedia account since I'm gilty of abusing multiple accounts and IP adresses for disruptive editing and I'm incapable of proving my innocence. Hello,

Due to your lack of an edit summary for your recent changes to this article, I cannot tell your reasoning in wanting to have a General overview section instead of a lead summarizing contents of the article. The latter is the standard format for Wikipedia articles, and you seem to have deviated from it on a whim.

When I previously merged the pre-existing General overview section into the inadequate lead, I gave my reasoning in my edit summary. If you have some undisclosed reason for your reversion, how about posting it on the article's Talk page?

Date of death of Emmanuelle Arsan

Hello Jopsach,

you here added the date of death of Arsan as June 12, 2005, citing a 2014 article in Lui magazine. Thanks for that reference. I got that article, but could not find the specific date June 12 there, it only says she died in June 2005. Where did you get the specific date June 12 from? I am working on a maintenance project to clean up Category:Pages using infoboxes with thumbnail images. In the future, please do not use thumbnails when adding images to an infobox (see WP:INFOBOXIMAGE). What does this mean? Well in the infobox, when you specify the image you wish to use, instead of doing it like this:

|image=[[File:SomeImage.jpg|thumb|Some image caption]]

Instead just supply the name of the image. So in this case you can simply do:

|image=SomeImage.jpg.

There will then be a separate parameter for the image caption such as |caption=Some image caption. Please note that this is a generic form message I am leaving on your page because you recently added a thumbnail to an infobox. The files you are adding (File:Logo of Lebanese Forces.png, File:Marada old.jpg and File:Noumour.jpg) are licensed as non-free content which means that each use of them in a Wikipedia article is required to satisfy all 10 of the non-free content criteria listed in WP:NFCCP. If you feel that the way you want to use the files does satisfy all 10 criteria, then please provide a valid non-free use rationale explaining why as required by WP:NFCC#10c. You should be aware, however, the way you want to use the images is decorative and would not satisfy WP:NFCC#8 because there is no real contextual reason to justify non-free use. There are also problems with using the images for the reasons given in WP:NFLISTS and MOS:LOGO. If you're not sure how to write a non-free rationale, you can ask for help at WP:MCQ or WT:NFCC. If you want to discuss whether the way you want to use the files complies with Wikipedia's non-free content use policy, then you can start a discussion about the files at WP:FFD. Even though you've been previously asked to not inappropriately add non-free images such as File:Logo of Lebanese Forces.png and File:Noumour.jpg to articles, you continue to do so with edits like this, this, this and this. It's OK to make a mistake once, but repeating the same mistake after being advised not to is not. Please make sure to verify the licensing of any file before adding it to an article. If the file is non-free content, then you need to make sure the particular use complies with all 10 non-free content use criteria and then provide the required separate specific non-free use rationale explaining why. Just for reference, the way you've been using these "flag files" as flag icons is pretty much never considered an acceptable type of non-free use, so you're really going to have to provide a very strong policy-based justification for such use. This the third time you're being warned about the this type of thing,. If you continue to ignore these warnings, an administrator is going to be to intervene to prevent any further disruption. I'll provide some more details here:

  • The main link with these other registered and IP accounts is the very distinctive, and very unusual, pattern of adding excessive detail to the role field of military unit infoboxes. Compare these example edits from Jopsach ([3] [4] [5], [6]) with those from IP and registered sock accounts ([7], [8], [9], [10], [11], [12], [13] [14], [15], [16], [17] - all to articles that Jopsach has also edited, generally frequently (and in several cases created) - as well as [18], [19], [20], [21], [22]) - there are a huge number of other examples
  • The Patauga jungle boot article clearly illustrates Jopsach's habbit of swapping between this account and IP accounts - this is an article which Jopsach created, and it's mainly been edited by their registered account and several IP accounts that also focus on articles that Jopsach has edited: [23]. It also features an over-detailed infobox these these accounts created. There are a number of other examples, such as List of weapons of the Portuguese Colonial War and List of weapons of the Rhodesian Bush War (articles which Jopsach also created and is the main editor of).
  • Another common feature is the high volume of daily edits from these accounts. There are some other commonalities related to this that I would prefer to not disclose on wiki given the strong possibility of further sockpuppetary and block evasion.
  • I note that Jopsach has complained several times above about being affected by blocks that had no clear cause when other admins reviewed them: it's possible that these were blocks I and other admins applied to the IP and registered accounts. Nick-D (talk) 06:04, 17 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I'm willing to believe that there potentially could be more than one sockmaster here, but you very strongly appear to be editing from various IP accounts simultaneously with this account across a large number of articles, with this having taken place over years. Something that concerned me was that some of the IPs geolocate to somewhere in Europe and others to somewhere in Asia, but 27.55.75.138 (talk · contribs), which appears highly likely to be you given that it edited only articles you created or had a focus on, geolocates to the Asian country that the other IP edits I was wondering about are from. Fortunately, I kept the original text versions of the articles that I authored and published on Wikipedia archived on my computer, so I’m able to present examples of my work and will enable you to see how the sockmaster imitated my style of editing to add unnecessary and unsolicited details to my articles, in this case, the one covering the Khmer Special Forces. Depicted below are two samples of the same text, the first taken from my personal archive and other currently depicted on Wikipedia: Sample 1: Khmer Special Forces original text ==Origins== The history of the Khmer Special Forces began in October 1971, when the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) was organized at Phnom Penh under the command of Lieutenant-Colonel (later, Brigadier-General) Thach Reng. The Khmer SF were actually a creation of Lt. Col. Ronnie Mendoza, a Special Forces-qualified US Army officier assigned to the American Military Equipment Delivery Team, Cambodia (MEDTC) earlier in June 1971. A prominent member of the MEDTC’s Plans and Programs Section, Mendoza focused on providing the Cambodian Army unconventional warfare units capable of carring out guerrilla operations in the northern and eastern Cambodian provinces under the control of both the North Vietnamese Army (NVA) and their Khmer Rouge allies.[1] Two other SF groups, the 2nd Special Forces Group (Airborne) and the 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) were activated in the following year. Under the auspices of Operation “Freedom Runner” – a FANK training program set up in November 1971 by the United States Special Forces (USSF) –, Khmer Special Forces teams began to be sent to South Vietnam to attend Parachute courses at the ARVN Airborne Training Center in Long Thanh, and the Special Forces’ (SF) course at the Army of the Republic of Vietnam Special Forces (LLDB) Dong Ba Thin Training Center near Cam Rhan Bay. I've considered the situation further, and I'm not sure that you are the same person as User:Danros26 as there are some differences in approach; I think that I've miss-identified Danros26 as being the sockmaster account for the infobox-related editing, and this may actually be the actual sockmaster account (or at least one of them). As noted above I think that there's very strong evidence that you have been misusing IP accounts to disruptively edit a very wide range of articles. I'll remove the Danros26 tag, but the block seems to continue to be justified by the behavioural evidence I've outlined above. I note that you say that your account has been compromised and (if I'm reading your posts correctly) that the edits from this account I've identified as being identical to the IP editing were actually made by a hacker - this is a major barrier to this account ever being unblocked. To be honest, I'm doubtful that this account has been compromised given the behavioural evidence, but we often have to take people at their word with this kind of thing as part of a cautious approach to issues around IT security and the legalities of the licences Wikipedia operates under. Well, it seems that my situation is really hopeless. The logged out edits I see that I could possibly associate directly to this account appear to be mostly good faith. I certainly wouldn't call them a basis for block evasion necessarily (without some perhaps-significant history extending past the privacy waterfall) and they certainly don't hit my vandalism mark. (I say mostly because there are a few edits that are sus. One's mileage might vary.) I would say there has not been significant logged out editing as to suggest an evasion of scrutiny but that Jopsach should definitely work on remaining logged in.
On the other hand, I see nothing to suggest a compromise. So the user does seem to be telling us what he thinks he wants us to hear rather than the seemingly-obvious truth when they have logged out.
The user may have created a sleeper at Javiersqrivera (talk+ · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki · SI). Very weak possibility.
None of the accounts in that category are recent. @Asilvering and Izno: as noted above, I don't think that this user is Danros26, and I removed the tagging as such a week ago. The IP accounts that are disruptively editing infoboxes appear to be run by someone (or some people) else, which I suspect that Jopsach is a sockmaster of given the behavioual evidence. This disruption has been going on for a long time, and the use of IP accounts has meant that the various editors who have been reverting it are unable to communicate with the person/people behind it. I've been checking the Wikipedia articles that l authored and l realised that other users have made recently edits to them. Thanks for your reply. First of all, I apologise for not having explained myself properly. I fell powerless for being no longer able to edit the articles that I authored while other users can do it without the restrictions that I am currently subjected to. However, I must admit that the edits that I've so far seen throughout these same articles are just small modifications, and some are even justified since they add important details that I missed before the block was implemented and made the necessary corrections (e.g. permanently dead link). In their edits, I found no trace of mischeif or "vandalism". I will follow your advice and I'll make other unblock request today. The tone of my last message may sound desperate, even extreme (apologies for that), but I think that I have the right to clear my name. Do you know what is to be accused of being the perpetrator of a serious offense - in this case, abusive use of multiple accounts and of being a sockpuppet/sockmaster or worse, a vandal, who is very found to edit Wikipedia articles to add nonsense -, that you cannot explain how that happened without your knowledge or consent and you have to struggle to provide evidence of your innocence without knowing how to do it? I have been a contribuitor (and user) to Wikipedia for the past 18 years and, although I have been blocked previously for other, unrelated reasons, I was never subjected to a block for indefinitive time, which was a complete surprise to me. My username is Jopsach, and I have been indefinitely blocked since 16 August 2025 by User:Nick-D from editing Wikipedia pages, including all the articles that I authored for the past 18 years. The reason cited by User:Nick-D is that he found that my recent edits prior to 16 August are identical to those of a long running vandal who has been editing from sockpuppet IP accounts and various registered accounts for several years, which has included adding nonsense to infoboxes and other parts of articles, generally on articles covering special forces units and South East Asian militaries. He also pointed a range of other similarities, including the high volume of my editing and the use of logged out editing from IP accounts, as well as from account 89.114.174.110, which, I admit, belongs to my smartphone. I replied to User:Nick-D by assuring him that I’m neither a sockpuppeteer or a sockmaster and my conduct under my sole account and IP address is not connected in any way with the block. Initially, User:Nick-D suspected of the existence more than one sockmaster, since he noted that someone (supposedly me) appear to have been editing from various IP accounts simultaneously with my account across a large number of articles. He eventually fond out that some of the IPs geolocate to somewhere in Europe and others to somewhere in Asia, but 27.55.75.138, which appeared to be me, given that it edited only articles I created or had a focus on, geolocates to an undisclosed Asian country that the other IP edits are from. Eventually, he found an obscure User:Danros26, which he identified (and tagged) as being the sockmaster account for the infobox-related editing, and this may actually be the actual sockmaster account (or at least one of them), a fact that led him to believe that User:Danros26 and I were the same person, mostly because of the strong similarities between our editing styles. User:Nick-D later removed this tag, though he still believes that my blocking is justified due to the behavioural evidence mentioned above: constant misuse of IP accounts to disruptively edit a very wide range of articles. At first, I thought that my account had been compromised by a hacker, and although User:Nick-D doubts that this is the case, he emphasized that this possibility is a major barrier to my account ever being unblocked. I apologize for accessing my account without properly logging in prior to making edits. I’ll not disruptively edit infoboxes while logged out and that I’ll edit constructively if unblocked. I have nothing to do with the editings of the infoboxes of both 10th Infantry Brigade (Lebanon) and 12th Brigade (Japan) articles, since I've been blocked indefinitely since August 2025! I did authored the 10th Infantry Brigade (Lebanon) article but I had never created or edited the 12th Brigade (Japan) article and therefor I cannot be held responsible for any recent disruptive editing activity on Wikipedia pages. In addition, I don't even known how to create a sockpuppet account (let alone multiple accounts) since I'm not a certified computer programmer and I didn't created this User:2001:FB1:13:66E1:B58C:50CC:9DAE:B4DD. I have no ideia who is the obscure person that hides behind this sockpuppet, but is allways me who gets the blame, which I find frustrating. Jopsach.
