Jackie Robinson in Yankees template

Robinson's #42 belongs in the Yankees template, even though Mariano Rivera still wears it. #42 was retired by ALL of MLB, and is thus in all MLB teams' templates in Wikipedia. The Yanks should be no exeception. Jackie's #42 is in Monument Park along with all the other retired numbers. Also the Yanks retired #8 twice, so it stands to reason that 42 will also when Rivera retires.Richiekim (talk) 18:42, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Uh, no, if an active player is still wearing it, it by definition is not a "retired" number for that particular team. You'd also be wise to recognize the difference between the sign for Jackie Robinson's #42 in Monument Park and those for all other players: Robinson's conspicuously lacks pinstripes. MLB may have retired his number, but the Yankees have not. - Dino Velvet 8MM (talk) 21:29, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would say that an official decree from MLB trumps the Yankees. No team is bigger than the League, despite what some Yankees fans may think. I would also add that Butch Huskey and Mo Vaughn continued to wear 42 after MLB's retitement and yet the teams they played for still had Robinson's jersey honored at their respective ballparks. When Rivera retires, there will be two 42s in Monument Park, just like there are two number 8s right now.Richiekim (talk) 12:25, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, no "official decree" can make something that which it is not: if a number is still being worn by a player on a team, that number hasn't been "retired" in any sense of the word by that team. If MLB said black is white, that would not make it so. And, once again, Robinson's #42 sign conspicuously lacks pinstripes. –Dino Velvet 8MM (talk) 13:47, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As opposed to the Tampa Bay Rays, or Colorado Rockies, or all the teams in MLB that Robinson never played for and yet still retired 42 and are in their team templates? Again I point to Huskey and Vaughn. While they played, 42 was still shown as retired at Shea and Fenway. Richiekim (talk) 13:53, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Edit-warring on New York Yankees

Both you and Richiekim need to stop the edit-warring on Template:New York Yankees. You've both already violated 3RR and could face a block in the future. Please resolve your dispute on the talk pages and cease with the constant reversions.-PassionoftheDamon (talk) 16:15, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2009 World Series

So why do you keep changing it back to the way that the other templates are without any explanation? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 20.132.68.146 (talk) 19:56, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sign your comments. And stop altering the template, as World Series boxes are more detailed.-Dino Velvet 8MM (talk) 20:00, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
