Template talk:Wars of the Roses

Wouldn't it make more sense to give the battles in chronological order, as is done in the vast majority of war-related templates? john k (talk) 02:50, 18 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

George Plantagenet, 1st Duke of Clarence

It seems odd to list him as a prominent Lancastrian, but not Yorkist, given he mostly fought for the Yorkist side and was a Yorkist by blood. The Earl of Warwick who switched sides is listed under both so might Clarence not be as well? Dunarc (talk) 22:48, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Also John Neville, 1st Marquess of Montagu and Thomas Neville aka Bastard of Fauconberg are only down as Yorkists, but both also fought for the Lancastrians (indeed Montagu died fighting the Yorkists). Given the habit of changing sides perhaps a fought for both groups could be added or the split between Yorkists and Lancastrains removed? Dunarc (talk) 18:33, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

To revive a a very old comment, the new format has addressed this and I think works much better. Dunarc (talk) 22:38, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Second Cornish uprising of 1497

I have added Second Cornish uprising of 1497 to see also beside Perkin Warbeck. The uprising was Warbeck's last serious attempt to challenge the Tudor succession, and as he did under the pretense of being the legitimate Yorkist heir to the throne, can be seen as be a direct consequence of the Wars of the Roses. White rose upside down

Isn't the white rose depicted in the image upside down? -- Dr Greg  talk  12:51, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Margaret, Duchess of Burgundy

I have added Margaret of York, Duchess of Brugundy to the Yorkist Key figures as she was important in ensuing her husband's support for Edward IV in 1469 and 1471 and then was a key figure in financially and militarily supporting the Yorkist rising against Henry VII in 1487 (as well as later attempts). Dunarc (talk) 23:50, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lady Margaret Beaufort

I have added Lady Margaret Beaufort to the key Lancastrians as, as her own article says she "was a major figure in the Wars of the Roses of the late fifteenth century" and was a pivitol figure in ensuring the rise to power of her son Henry Tudor and thus the ultimate ending of the conflict. Dunarc (talk) 19:01, 11 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Princes in the Tower

I have added Princes in the Tower to the see also section, as the uncertain fate of Edward V and Richard of Shrewsbury, Duke of York was a clear issue in the final stages of the conflict and its aftermath. Dunarc (talk) 22:58, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
