I removed all the modified nucleosides from the table, since adding all of them would be ridiculous (100 in RNA alone). I also removed ribose from the list because it is a sugar not a nucleoside.
If someone wants to make a seperate list for naturally modified nucleosides that would be great.
A few of the last items were labelled nucleic acids when they are not really nucleic acids. Nucleic acids occur in the nuclei of cells, but molecules such as PNAs or Morpholinos are purely synthetic analogues. They should either be labelled as such or removed from this list entirely (though I think they are of sufficient interest to be retained).
I made a page "trying" Nucleic acid analogues to link the analogues, there are lots of orphan articles, categoried under either genetics or biochemistry (dending on the discipline of the authors?). would an "others" be decent for the template?Squidonius (talk) 14:58, 20 November 2007 (UTC)RESOLVED[reply]
Greetings from cs.wiki. I'm just polishing our template about nucleic acids and I have a suggestion: I think that regrouping of RNAs would improve this template.
There is a template "Types of RNA", which differs in a few ways from this one. They should be either identical, or the RNA one should be more specific. I don't think it is necessary to list every type of RNA connected to RNAi in the general template
Speaking of "Types of RNA" template, RNA P is not RNA but ribonucleoprotein with ribozyme activity. (in contrast, RNA is SRP is written correctly)
I know what you mean by "translation", in this group are RNAs directly participating in reading of the genetic code. However, it may create impression that other RNAs doesn't participate in translation. I however have no good idea, how to elegantly change it. (Protein synthesis maybe?)
tmRNA is a catch. While it encodes some amino acids (but just degradation mark), its main role is to start non-STOP-mediated decay. It is OK to leave it in the group that is directly involved in translation, but I think regulatory group would suit it better
It would be better to group RNAs relevant to RNAi into one group
lambda phage is not type of NA. While it is used as a clonning backbone, it should have other name.
