Born in 2006 in Vigevano, in the province of Pavia,[4] Sarah Toscano is the third and youngest child of Petra Polomsky, a German teacher originally from Stuttgart, and Marco Toscano, an entrepreneur in the leather sector;[5] she has an older sister, Giulia, and an older brother, Lorenzo.[6][7] At the age of five, she began studying the piano and soon began participating in and winning international competitions.[8][9] Devoted to karaoke, her father decided to have her listen to Andrea Dulio, an international manager, who took her to a recording studio, where he had her record her first songs with international producer Pietro Foresti.[10][11] During her childhood and adolescence she was musically inspired by several international artists, including Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Ariana Grande and Rihanna and Italian artists, including Annalisa, Elodie, Angelina Mango, Emma, Tananai and Ultimo,[12] while her works draw on the pop and dance pop genres.[13][14]
Passionate about tennis, during her childhood she played in the women's C series, winning the provincial tennis championship in 2020 with the Sporting Club Selva Alta.[15][16] She attended the Bachelet linguistic high school in Abbiategrasso, Milan,[17] interrupting her studies in the fifth year to participate in the twenty-third edition of Amici di Maria De Filippi.[18][19]
Career
Recording debut
In 2022 she was selected among the twenty finalists of the Area Sanremo[20] singing competition and although she was not selected as a competitor in Sanremo Giovani, she won the plaque dedicated to Vittorio De Scalzi.[21][22] On the 21th of October of the same year, her first EP, Riflesso, was released, containing six tracks, distributed by Universal Music Italia label, which included her first single "9 giugno".[23][24]
2023–2024: Participation in Amici 23 and Sarah
In September 2023 she participated in the auditions of the twenty-third edition of the musical talent show broadcast on Canale 5Amici di Maria De Filippi, then entering the initial phase.[25][26] In March 2023 she gained access to the evening phase of the program by joining the team led by professors Lorella Cuccarini and Emanuel Lo[27][28] and the following May she reached the final, emerging as the winner.[29][30]
During the program he published several unreleased songs, including "Touché",[31] "Viole e violini",[32] "Mappamondo",[33] "Voilà" (live version of the song of the same name by French singer-songwriter Barbara Pravi),[34] "Sexy magica"[35][36] and "L'ultima volta",[37] which later includes all six of them in the EP of the same name,[38] published on 17 May 2024 by the Warner Music Italy label,[39] which then debuted at number 12 on the FIMI chart.[40] The song "Sexy magica" then reached number 83 on the FIMI chart.[41]
From 15 June to 28 August 2024 Sarah Live Summer 2024, her first summer tour, took place from Rome to Monterosso al Mare (SP).[42] In the summer of the same year, she performed in music event, including the "Future Hits Live",[43] "RDS Summer Festival",[44] "TIM Summer Hits", "Battiti Live",[45] "105 Summer Festival"[46] and "Yoga Radio Bruno Estate".[47]
On 29 September 2024, during the first episode of the twenty-fourth edition of Amici di Maria De Filippi,[59] he previewed his new single "Tacchi (fra le dita)", which will be released on 4 October.[60][61] In November, she teamed up with clothing brand Horda to launch her signature winter sweatshirts on the market, accompanied on the back by a quote from the song "Tacchi (fra le dita)".[62]
On 22 November 2024 the song "Safety Net" by British singer Bea and her Business was released (the Italian version of the song of the same name released on 13 September),[63][64] in which Sarah collaborated for the first time with an international artist, singing both in Italian and English.[65][66] On 27 November she took part in the second episode of the program This Is Me, broadcast on Canale 5 and hosted by Silvia Toffanin.[67]
