Masato Nakayama (中山 仁斗, Nakayama Masato, born February 6, 1992) is a Japanese football player.[1]

Career

Gainare Tottori

On 16 December 2013, Nakayama was announced at Gainare Tottori.[2]

Renofa Yamaguchi

On 6 January 2016, Nakayama was announced at Renofa Yamaguchi.[3] He made his league debut against Giravanz Kitakyushu on 6 March 2016.[4] Nakayama scored his first league goals against Roasso Kumamoto on 9 April 2016, scoring a brace.[5]

Montedio Yamagata

On 27 December 2016, Nakayama was announced at Montedio Yamagata.[6] He made his league debut against Roasso Kumamoto on 12 March 2017.[7] Nakayama scored his first league goal against Fagiano Okayama on 23 April 2017, scoring in the 76th minute.[8]

Júbilo Iwata

On 9 January 2019, Nakayama was announced at Júbilo Iwata.[9] In his first start for the club, he scored a brace in the J.League Cup on 10 April 2019.[10] Nakayama scored his first league goal for the club, and his first J1 goal against Vegalta Sendai on 18 May 2019, scoring in the 34th minute.[11] On 3 July 2019, he scored a hattrick against Honda Lock in the Emperor's Cup.[12]

Vegalta Sendai

On 26 December 2021, Nakayama was announced at Vegalta Sendai.[13] For his performances during the 2022 season, he was named in the J2 Best XI on 18 January 2023.[14] On 22 November 2024, it was announced that Nakayama's contract would not be renewed for the 2025 season.[15]

Personal life

Nakayama's nickname is Gon.[16] When he signed for Vegalta Sendai, he commented that he looked like a "warlord", which was well received by supporters. He eventually dressed up as a warlord in a collaboration with the Date Bushotai.[17]
