Ghulam Raziq
Ghulam Raziq (11 November 1932 – 24 June 1989)[1] was a Pakistani hurdler who competed in the 1956 Summer Olympics, 1960 Summer Olympics, and the 1964 Summer Olympics.[2] CareerIn the Asian Games. Raziq won the gold medal in 1958 and 1966, and a silver in 1962.[3] In the Commonwealth Games, Raziq won medals three successive times. He first secured bronze medals in 1958 in Cardiff, followed by gold in 1962 in Perth. He again secured bronze in 1966 in Kingston.[3] In the Olympics, Raziq made it to the semi-finals in 1956 and 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome. In 1960, he was involved in a photo finish for the third place in his semi-final round, and missed out on a finals place by a whisker.[3] Personal lifeRaziq hailed from Domeli in the Jhelum district. Like several athletes in Pakistan's early history, Raziq was a soldier in the Pakistan Army. He also participated in the World Military Games.[3] References
