ServBay is an integrated local web development environment and machine learning model deployment management tool designed primarily for macOS and Microsoft Windows developers. It serves as a modern alternative to solution stacks like XAMPP, and MAMP, aiming to simplify the deployment of complex web development environments without the need for manual compilation, containerization overhead like Docker or third-party dependencies like Homebrew.

Overview

ServBay provides a non-intrusive installation (isolated in /Applications/ServBay on macOS) that avoids polluting the host operating system's system paths. It is designed to be "ready-to-use," allowing developers to initialize a complete stack—including web servers, databases, and programming runtimes within minutes.

Core Features

ServBay is equipped with an administration GUI, allowing developers to quickly install, upgrade, and switch between different versions of services. With modular combinations, developers can stack and replace various services, simulating diverse development environments to meet rapid application development needs.

Multi-Language Support: allows multiple versions of programming languages to run concurrently, including:

Web Servers and Databases: Integrated support for Caddy, Nginx, and Apache HTTP Servers, alongside databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and Memcached.

Networking and Security: Custom Domains & SSL: Features a built-in PKI system for free SSL certificates and supports ACME protocols (e.g. Let's Encrypt).

DNS and Email: Includes a local DNS server for custom TLDs and a built-in mail server (Mailpit) for testing outgoing emails.

Machine learning Model Deployment: Since recent updates in Jul 2025, it includes support for Ollama, allowing developers to run Large Language Models (LLMs) locally within their development environments.[1]
