The Islamic State Police (Mosul) was the law-enforcement branch of the Islamic State within Mosul inside the province of Nineveh in Iraq.[2] After ISIS captured Mosul in June 2014, the group set up a police force in charge of civilian policing, traffic regulation, and other law-enforcement duties within Mosul and the Nineveh region.[3][4] The force presumably operated until the fall of ISIS control of Mosul in 2017.
History
The city of Mosul fell to the Islamic State in June of 2014, after the fall of the city, the Islamic State set up its own police force inside the city, this included the Mosul Islamic Police and morality police.
With the establishment of the police force, the Islamic State also established Islamic courts inside Mosul to replace previous Iraqi ones.[5]
