Corey Lapell is a Canadian entrepreneur, author, competitive CrossFit athlete[1] and former Judo competitor.

Corey briefly attended the University of Waterloo before graduating ultimately transferring and graduating from his Alma Mater University University of British Columbia, with a Bachelor of Arts (BA): majoring in Anthropology and a Bachelor of Education (BEd) upon completion of the UBC teaching program.
After numerous decades of instructing Judo, Self-defence, and CrossFit, Corey would achieve his CrossFit Level 3 qualification.
Corey continues his lifelong commitment to learning and teaching with his co-owners and coaching team at Empower Fitness For Every Body.[2]
Career
In 2008, Corey founded Empower Fitness For Every Body, specializing in strength training, injury-aware coaching, and long-term fitness.[2]

Corey Lapell is amidst publishing his debut novel series The Gorgons Have Landed. This sci-fi comedy series is described as: "[A] lighthearted, fast-paced alien invasion comedy set in Phoenix, AZ, told in five parts through the eyes of a cast of zany characters.".[6]

Martial arts career
Founding member of Delta Kaigan Judo Club,[8] Corey is a former Judo competitor and 2nd-degree Judo Black Belt holder Nidan (二段). Through Judo, Corey would meet Empower co-owner and coach, Leon Bayer, and together they would go on to learn and practice with Blauer Tactical SPEAR program before they would ultimately choose to be Jiu Jitsu practitioners upon retiring from competitive Judo.
