Prior to 2023, the team was located in Pearl, Mississippi, playing for 19 seasons as the Mississippi Braves. In 2004, the Greenville Braves moved to Mississippi after disagreeing with the Greenville County Council for a new ballpark.
In May 2023, the city council of Columbus supported Mayor Skip Henderson's efforts to attract a minor league team to the city.[1] The city later approved a $50-million renovation to Synovus Park to bring the stadium up to minor league standards.[2][3] In January 2024, the Mississippi Braves announced that they would be relocating to Columbus, Georgia, and begin play in the 2025 season.[4][5]
The club announced its nickname, Clingstones, after a variety of peach, on September 6, 2024.[6][7] The name of their mascot, Fuzzy, was announced in November 2024.[8]
