Mahmud (arabisch محمود, DMG Maḥmūd) ist ein arabischer männlicher Vorname,[1] der von derselben Wurzel abgeleitet ist wie der Name Mohammed, mit der Bedeutung „der Gepriesene“, „der Lobenswerte“.[2] Eine u. a. türkische Form des Namens ist Mahmut, eine weitere Schreibweise ist Mahmoud.
