Weimar grad Savezne pokrajine Tiringije (Savezna Republika Njemačka). Grad ima oko 64 361 stanovnika (2005).

Na poziv vojvode Karla Augusta Goethe odlazi u Weimar, gdje postaje tajni savjetnik, a 1780. slobodni zidar weimarske lože Anna Amalia, dobija plemstvo i postaje Kammerpräsident. Bio je i upravitelj weimarskog teatra.

Weimarska Republika je naziv za njemačku državu nastalu nakon Prvog svjetskog rata. Na izborima početkom 1919.

Bauhaus je bila škola arhikteture i primijenjene umjetnosti u Njemačkoj. Osnovao ju je arhitekt Walter Gropius 1919 godine u Weimaru.
