Asellidae adalah famili krustasea isopoda sekaligus salah satu famili isopoda air tawar terbesar,[1] yang hidup di habitat epigean (permukaan air) dan hipogean (bawah tanah) di Amerika Utara, Eropa, Asia, dan Afrika Utara. Anggota famili ini telah beradaptasi dengan habitat bawah tanah setidaknya 34 kali selama evolusinya.
