Ул ‹Ə› белән азәрбайҗан теле язуында, бафут, бана, банголан, эвондо, кемезунг кебек берничә Камерун телләре стандарт язуда кулланыла. Икпоссо, Канури (Нигер һәм Нигерия), Нгизим, Тамашек, Чурама һәм Йом кебек Көнбатыш Африка телләрен язуда 'Ǝ' белән кулланыла.

Аның кечерәк формасы Халыкара фонетик алфавит тарафыннан үзәк урта авазны күрсәтү өчен кулланыла.
