Ang Ur ay isang estadong lungsod na itinatag ng mga Sumeryo noong mga 3000 BCE. Matatagpuan ang mga guho o labi nito sa katimugang Irak, kalapit ng Ilog ng Euprates.[1]

Kasaysayan

Nawasak ng isang malaking baha, ang Malaking Pagbaha na tinutukoy sa Bibliya (basahin din ang Epiko ni Gilgamesh at Arka ni Noe), ang isang maagang maliit na pamayanan sa Ur. Pagkaraan ng bahang ito, namuhay sa Ur ang isang pangkat ng mga Sumeryong may angking mataas na antas ng kabihasnan, na binubuo ng mga manlililok, tagagawa ng mga paso, tagagawa ng mga metal, at mga tagapagtayo ng mga gusali.[1]
