LAN Card

Ang LAN (mula sa Ingles: local area network) ay isang klaseng network ng kompyuter na sumasakop ng di-kalakihang lugar tulad ng isang bahay, opisina, o isang grupo ng mga gusali tulad ng isang kolehiyo.

Sa pamamagitang ng ethernet ang mga kompyuter ay nakakonekta sa pamamagitan ng mga wires sa isang hub o switch. Ito ang bumubuo ng tinatawag na physical layer ng isang network ng kompyuter. Bagamat karaniwang gumagamit ng ethernet cards upang i-network ang mga kompyuter, magagamit din ang serial o parallel port ng mga kompyuter upang magpalitan ng impormasyon.

Maari din gumamit ng isang Wireless Access Point. Bagamat isang LAN din ito, mas karaniwang tinatawag itong Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN).

Kapag ipinag-interconnect ang mas marami sa isang LAN, ang mabubuo ay tinatawag na Wide Area Network (WAN). Ang router ay ginagamit upang ipagkonekta ang dalawa o mas maraming LANs. Usbong Ang lathalaing ito ay isang usbong. Makatutulong ka sa Wikipedia sa pagpapalawig nito.
