Ang mga diapsida ay isang pangkat na mga reptilya na nag-ebolb ng mga butas(temporal fenestra) sa bawat panig ng mga bungo nito mga 300 milyong taon ang nakalilipas sa Huling Carboniferous.[1] Ang mga nabubuhay na diapsida ay sukdulang diberso at kinabibilangan ng mga buwaya, mga butiki, mga ahas at mga tuatara. Sa ilalim ng modernong mga sistemang klasipikasyon, kahit ang mga ibon ay itinuturing na mga diapsida dahil ang mga ito ay nag-ebolb mula sa mga diapsidang ninuno nito at nakalagay sa loob ng kladong diapsida. Bagaman ang ilang mga diapsida ay nawalan ng alinmang isang butas(mga butiki) o parehong mga butas(mga ahas) o kahit may mabigat na muling naistrakturang bungo(mga modernong ibon), ang mga ito ay inuuri pa ring mga diapsida batay sa ninuno ng mga ito. May hindi bababa sa 7,925 espesye ng mga diapsidang reptilya na umiiral pa rin sa mga kapaligiran sa buong mundo ngayon(halos 18,000 kung isasama ang mga ibon).
