Bossa nova

Bossa nova, estilo ng musika sa Brazil na naimbento noong huling kalahati ng dekada 1950 ng mga estudyante at musikong gitnang-uring naninirahan sa mga distritong tabing-dagat ng Rio de Janeiro ng Copacabana at Ipanema. Nasasalin ang pangalan bilang “the new beat” o kaya “the new way” sa Inggles. Sa Brazil, lubos itong nakilala sa rekord na Chega de saudade na itinanghal ni João Gilberto at iniakda ni Antônio Carlos Jobim at Vinícius de Moraes. Nilabas ang rekord noong 1958.

Marahil ang “The Girl from Ipanema” («A garota de Ipanema» sa Portuges) ni Antônio Carlos Jobim, na kilala sa kanyang orihinal na Portuges at salin sa Inggles, ang pinakakilalang awit na bossa nova.
