Ang axion ay isang hipotetikal na elementaryong partikulo na pinostula ng teoriyang Peccei–Quinn noong 1977 upang lutasin ang malakas na problemang CP sa quantum na kromodinamika(QCD). Kung ang mga axion ay umiiral at may mababang masa sa loob ng isang saklaw(range), ang mga ito ay interesante bilang posibleng bahagi ng malamig na materyang madilim.
