Smittia (лат.) — род комаров-звонцов из подсемейства Orthocladiinae.

Распространение

Встречаются повсеместно во всех зоогеографических областях (кроме Антарктики)[1].

Описание

Комары-звонцы мелкого размера, длина крыла менее 3 мм. Глаза со щетинками. Макротрихии на крыльях отсутствуют. Апикальный членик усиков с длинной субапикальной щетинкой. Гоностиль, как правило, с кристой. Усики личинок 4—5-члениковые[2].

Классификация

В мировой фауне насчитывается в зависимости от принимаемого таксономического объёма по разным данным от 83 видов[1] до 120[3] и даже 300 видов[4]. На Дальнем Востоке 11 видов[2].
