Ornithodoros — род клещей из семейства Argasidae. Укусы этих клещей вызывают у человека и некоторых других животных акариаз орнитодороз.
Название
Название происходит от греческих слов ornithos («птица») и doros («дар»).
Ареал
На территории бывшего СССР
По данным, приведенным в Казахской советской энциклопедии, в Средней Азии, Казахстане, Крыму, Кавказе и Молдове известно 7 видов.
Анатомия
Отверстие между средней и задней кишками утрачено, что делает клещей неспособными выводить продукты пищеварения из своего тела[1].
