Ormia (лат.) — род мух-тахин трибы Ormiini из подсемейства Tachininae[8][9].

Описание

Род отличается следующими признаками: две-три пары предшовных акростических щетинок, включая одну пару рядом с швом мезонотума; лоб у самок обычно широкий; тело полностью жёлтое или жёлто-бежевое[10].

Мелкие желтовато-коричневые мухи этого рода стали модельными организмами в экспериментах по локализации звука благодаря своим «ушам», представляющим собой сложные структуры внутри переднегруди мухи у основания передних лапок. Наиболее распространенный и широко встречающийся вид, Ormia ochracea, находится в центре этих исследований[11][12][8].
