Aratus (лат.) — род тропических мелких морских, солонотоводных и пресноводных крабов, включающий два вида[1]. Они обитают в эстуариях тропической Атлантики и восточной части Тихого океана, где взбираются на деревья у берега. Длина карапакса до 25 мм. Задние боковые края сильно сходятся к закругленному концу, так что карапакс кажется треугольным при взгляде сверху. Эпибранхиальный зуб отсутствует. Антеннальный стебель расположен вне глазницы. Кисти клешней у самцов почти гладкие. Пальцы ходильных ног (P2-P5) составляют примерно одну пятую длины проподита. Плеон у самцов приблизительно круглый[2].
