Timmiidae é uma subclasse monotípica de musgos da classe Bryopsida que tem Timmiales como a única ordem extante. A ordem Timmiales por sua vez é também monotípica, tendo Timmiaceae como única família. O único género extante é Timmia,[2] com distribuição natural no Paleárctico.
Descrição
Os únicos membros do agrupamento taxonómico são pequenos musgos com distribuição natural nas regiões frias e húmidas do Paleoárctico.
O nome do género é uma homenagem ao botânico alemão do século XVIII Joachim Christian Timm.[3]
