Cronologia de Deep Purple

The House of Blue Light é o décimo segundo álbum de estúdio Deep Purple, lançado em 1987. É a segunda gravação com a então recém reunida formação Mark II.

O processo de criação do álbum foi extremamente difícil e longo. Ritchie Blackmore disse que muito do que foi gravado acabou sendo refeito. Ian Gillan disse que relações tensas dentro da banda comprometeram o álbum: "Vendo The House of Blue Light, existem boas músicas naquele disco, mas falta algo no conjunto. Você não pode sentir o espírito da banda, você pode ver ou ouvir cinco profissionais fazendo o seu melhor, mas é como um time de futebol, não funciona. É como onze estrelas que estão jogando no mesmo campo, mas não estão ligados pelo coração ou pelo espírito".

Várias faixas do LP são mais curtas do que no CD lançados em 1987. O CD remasterizado de 1999 usou as mesmas fitas masters da versão em vinil, por isso suas durações também estão mais curtas do que no CD original.
