Phellinaceae é uma família monotípica de plantas com flor pertencente à ordem Asterales cujo único género é Phelline. O género tem distribuição natural na região tropical sendo um endemismo da Nova Caledónia.[3] No sistema de classificação de Cronquist, este género era incluído na família Aquifoliaceae da ordem Celastrales.

Descrição

O género Phelline, o único membro da família Phellinaceae, agrupa um conjunto de arbustos endémicos da Nova Caledónia.[3] Está incluído na ordem Asterales e está relacionado com duas outras pequenas famílias de plantas, as Alseuosmiaceae e as Argophyllaceae.[4] Um cladograma simplificado, baseado num trabalho de Armen Tachtadschjan (1997), descreve as relações de parentesco das Phellinaceae dentro das Asterales da seguinte forma:[5]
