Vitiges (o Vitigis), foguèt rei del reialme ostrogòt d'Itàlia de 536 a 540.
Règne
Teodat pèrd lo poder en 536 e es remplaçat per un general de l'armada, Vitiges, un nòble, mas sens origina reiala.
Continuèt la guèrra contra Belisari. Repudièt sa femna per esposar Matasonta, filha d'Amalasonta e donc felena de Teodoric lo Grand. Aquel maridatge permetiá de donar una legitimat a son règne. En febrier 537, ataquèt Roma mas capitèt pas a s'en apoderar. En 538, Narsès desbarquèt amb una novèla armada bizantina. Las bregas entre los dos comandants bizantins provòca lo rapèl de Narsès a Constantinòble. Belisari en 539, assiètja la capitala del reialme Ravena; En 540, Vitiges capitulèt e es fach presonièr. Es enviat amb sa femna a Constantinòble, ont mòr en 542. Matasonta, veusa, se tornèt maridar amb un patrician bizantin, Germanus[1].
