The Cult es un grop de ròck britanic, originari de Bradford en Anglatèrra, ambe per membres màgers lo cantaire Ian Astbury e lo guitarrista Billy Duffy.

The Cult es actiu dempuèi 1983. Es considerat coma un dels grops a l'origina del Ròck gotic, estili que s'es desvolopat en Anglatèrra en seguida del punk e de còps aparentat o confondut au sens larg amb la new wave (se parla tanben de còps de pòst-punk). Pasmens, The Cult es tanben estat influenciat per la cultura dels pòbles indigènas d'America, pel ròck psiquedelic de las annadas 60 e 70, e en particular pel grop american The Doors.

La cançon la mai coneguda de The Cult en Occitània es She Sells Sanctuary (enregistrada 1985).
