Aquelei sagas permetèron ai familhas islandesas d'assegurar lor legitimitat e de mantenir l'equilibri entre lei clans principaus de l'illa. Existián unei tipes :

  • lei sagas dei chivaliers que son eissidas d'adaptacions de tèxts epics d'Euròpa continentala.
