Prot es una ribièra afluent de Danubi, long de 953 km, que la font se tròba en Ucraïna e que fa frontièra entre Romania e Moldàvia sus la pus granda part de son cors.

Prot ten sa font sul pendís oriental del mont Hoverla, pròche del còl Yablonitsky dins los Carpats, en Ucraïna. Raja cap al sud-èst e se geta dins Danubi al nivèl del pòrt de Giurgiulești, entre Galați e Reni. Lo bacin idrografic de Prot s'estend sus 27 500 km2, amb 10 990 km2 en Romania. La vila plus importanta situada per sas rivas es Chernivtsi, en Ucraïna.
