Portishead sus l'empont en 2008

Portishead es un grop anglés de "trip-hop" (mescla de musica electronica, de jazz, de hip-hop e de soul), qu'es estat format a Bristòl en 1991 per Geoff Barrow ambe la cantaira Beth Gibbons. Forman a la debuta un duò e causisson per nom lo de la ciutat costièra anglesa dins la quala a viscut Geoff Barrow : Portishead, dins lo Somerset, a 20 quilomètres a l'oèst de Bristòl. Enregistran lors primièrs títols ambe lo guitarrista jazz Adrian Utley e l'engenhaire del son Dave McDonald.[1]

En Occitània, Portishead es revelat en 1995 per lor tube Glory Box, tròç en realitat basat sus un escapolon de la cançon Ike's Rap II d'Isaac Hayes.
