Localizacion

Lo pohnpeian es parlat dins l'illa de Pohnpei, dins las Illas Carolinas. L'Estat de Pohnpei es un dels membres dels Estats federats de Micronesia[1].

Classificacion

Lo pohnpeian es una de las lengas ponapeïcas, un grops de lengas restacadas a las lengas micronesianas, un grop de las lengas oceanianas. Aquestas fan partida de la branca malaiopolinesiana de la familha austronesiana[2]. Las autras lengas ponapeïcas son lo pingelapés, lo mokilés e lo ngatikés.
