Peter Minuit
Peter Minuit, Pieter Minuit, Pierre Minuit o Peter Minnewit (entre 1580 e 1585 – 5 d'agost de 1638) èra un valon originari de Wesel, uèi en Ren del Nòrd-Vestfàlia, Alemanha, a l'epòca part del Comtat de Cleveris. Son escai significa "mièjanuèit."[1] Foguèt lo director general de la colonia olandesa dels Nòus Païses Basses entre 1626 e 1631, e fondèt la colonia suedesa de Nòva Suècia en 1638.
Òm li atribuís generalamen la crompa de l'illa de Manhattan per los Païses Basses als amerindians de la tribú Lenape, que pus tard vendriá la vila de Nòva Amsterdam, e la Nòva York modèrna, e que foguèt lo còr de la colonia olandesa dels Nòus Païses Basses e pus tard de la colonia britanica de Nòva York.
