Las ormonas (var. ormòna) son principalament de peptids, de proteïnas o d'esteroïdes qu'en çò dels èssers vivents pluricellulars regulan e coordinan l'activitat de las cellulas. Son de messatgièrs bioquimics produsits per de glandolas endocrinas o de secrecion intèrna doncas que libèran las ormonas dins lo mitan intèrne (sang, emolimfa o saba). Agisson unicament sus un organ determinat nomenat organ cibla e sus las cellulas que son las unicas qu'an sus la membrana plasmica de receptors ormonals especifics per aquelas ormonas.
