Lo monegasc (autonim: munegascu) es un parlar ligur (nòrd-italian) que forma una enclava lingüistica a Mónegue, enrodat qu'es per de parlars occitans. Tanben l'occitan niçard si parla tradicionalament a Mónegue, au costat dau ligur monegasc.
Lo ligur monegasc non a minga estatut oficiau a Mónegue e subisse una fòrta diglossia, impauada per la dominacion dau francés qu'es l'unica lenga oficiala. Pasmens lo monegasc benefícia despí lo 1976 d'una iniciacion escolara sistematica a l'escòla.
