Lignit

Lo lignit es una ròca sedimentària compausada de rèstas fossils de plantas. Es una ròca intermediària entre la torba e la olha.

Lo lignit es un carbon compausat de 65 à 75 % de carbòni. Servís pel caufatge e per produire d'electricitat. Lo lignit a l'estat natural conten un grand percentatge d'aiga (50 %). Es trissat e secat per tal de reduire la dòsi d'aiga a apperaquí 11 %. Deçà, los volatils contenguts dins lo lignit son tròp instables per una aplicacion securizada (risc d'autoinflamacion).

Le poder calorific inferior (PCI) del lignit secat es d'aperaquí 20 MJ/kg, çò que ne fa un combustible pauc rendable (le PCI de la olha se situa a l'entorn de 29 MJ/kg).
