Desirós d'establir leis Estats Pontificaus coma la premiera poissança italiana, participèt activament ai Guèrras d'Itàlia en combatent Venècia (1508-1509) e França (1511-1512). Per aquò, mobilizava totei lei ressorsas de sa foncion e esitèt pas a utilizar lei poders espirituaus de la papautat còntra seis enemics personaus. En parallèl, assaièt de reformar la Glèisa qu'èra en crisi dempuei lo sègle XIV en causa deis angoissas novèlas de la populacion, de la corrupcion dau clergat e de l'afebliment de l'autoritat morala de la papautat. En 1512, convoquèt ansin lo cinquen concili de Latran, mai leis evesques mau capitèron de trobar una solucion, çò que menèt quauqueis annadas après sa mòrt a la Reforma protestanta iniciada per Luther. Enfin, Juli II foguèt un important mecènas e protegiguèt d'artistas coma Bramante e Miquèl Àngel.
