Jacòb (ebrieu: יעקב - ya`aqov 'Dieu a sostengut', 'protegit'; arabi: يعقوب - ya`qūb) es un patriarca biblic. Es lo fiu d'Isaac e Rebeca e lo felen d'Abraam. Recep tanben lo nom d'Israèl après lo sieu combat ambé Dieu (Gn|32|28). Lo libre de la Genèsi au capítol 32 parla misteriosament d'un "òme" e la tradicion i a vist l'àngel de Dieu (çò qu'explica lei representacions de nombrós pintres), de còps identificat a l'àngel Gabrièl. L'istòria de Jacòb es contada dins lo libre de la Genèsi.
Lo nom Jaume/Jacme ven de "Jacòb".
