Daniel Defoe (Londres, 1660 – ibidem, 21 d'abril de 1731) foguèt un jornalista escrivan anglés, considerat coma lo fondador de la novèla realista al Reialme Unit. Nascut amb lo nom Daniel Foe, i apondèt posteriorament lo "De" 'aristocratic. Es l'autor del celèbre roman Robinson Crusoe.

Après aver passat una granda part de sa vida coma jornalista, en tres ans publiquèt las tres òbras literàrias que l'an fait celèbre, e mai que n'esgriguèsse mai de 500.

  • "Las aventuras de Robinson Crusoe", (1719), considerada coma la primièra novèla anglesa.
  • "Las aventures de Moll Flanders", (1722), novèla picaresca.
  • "Jornal de l'an de la pesta" (en anglés A journal of the plague year of 1665), (1722), que narra l'epidemia de pesta que i aguèt a Londres aquest an. Es considerat coma un dels primièrs reportatges jornalistic de l'istòria.
