Cromita

Cromita (Mutorashanga, Zimbabwe).

La cromita es un minerau gris, gris-negre ò negre-marron. Sa duretat es egala a 5,5 e sa densitat se situa entre 4,5 e 4,8. Es constituïda d'oxid de fèrre e de cròme (FeCr2O4) que pòu formar de cristaus octaedrics ò dodecaedrics. Pasmens, lei cristaus son rars e pichons. Generalament, la cromita forma de massas microcristallinas. Son esclat es submetallic a metallic. La cromita es infusibla e insolubla dins leis acids pus frequents. Es leugierament magnetica e pas fluorescenta.

Dins la natura, la cromita se forma dins lei ròcas magmaticas basicas e ultrabasicas. Es tanben presenta dins lei serpentinitas e pòu se concentrar dins de depaus detritics de tipe placers. D'un biais pus marginau, la cromita es un minerau frequentament observat dins lei meteorits. Es sovent associada l'olivina e de piroxèns. Dins l'industria miniera, es utilizada coma minerau de cròme. Intra pereu dins la fabricacion d'aciers e de vernís especiaus e dins lo tanatge dei pèus.
