Es lenga cooficiala en Bòsnia e Ercegovina, emplegat sustot per la comunitat "musulmana" (dicha "bosniaca"). Emplega l'alfabet latin amb de cambiaments menors. L'emplec de l'alfabet cirillic i es admés en teoria mas existís pas gaire en practica.
