Beneset III
Beneset III (mòrt lo 17 d'abriu de 858) foguèt lo 104en papa de la Glèisa Catolica Romana dau 29 de setembre de 855 au 17 d'abriu de 858. Succediguèt a Leon IV (847-855) e foguèt remplaçat per Nicolau Ièr (858-867).
Foguèt elegit après lo refús dau futur Adrian II qu'èra estat inicialament chausit per succedir a Leon IV. Son eleccion menaçada per lei partisans d'un eclesiastic dich Anastasi ja conegut per doas temptativas d'usurpacion dau tròne pontificau en 850 e en 853. Pasmens, Beneset III foguèt sostengut per lo pòble e la màger part dau clergat. Aquò entraïnèt un esquisma car l'emperaire Loís II impausèt de negociacions entre Beneset III e Anastasi. Pasmens, lo papa e sei successors capitèron d'aprofichar aquela situacion per afeblir la tutèla imperiala sus la papautat.
