Lo pòble Beja ès un pòble african, que parla una lenga coshitica, lo beja e que resida mai que mai dins tres païses: Egipte, Sodan, Eritrèa.


Demografia

En Egipte, los Bejas vivon mai que mai dins lo sud, entre Mar Roja e Nil. Son estimats a mens de 90 000 (0,1%) de la populacion. Gaireben totes parlan tanben un o mai d'un dels dialèctes seguents: arabi egipcian, arabi sa'idi o arabi sodanés.

Lo grop mai important demòra dins lo nòrd de Sodan. Estimat a 951 000 en 1982 per lo SIL[1], son probablament gaireben 2 000 000 en 2013 (o aperaquí 6% de la populacion).

En Eritrèa son 120 000 (2%). I son coneguts jol nom de Hedareb. Parlan sovent tanben tigre o arabi.

Al total, los Bejàs son mai de 2 200 000 en 2013.
