Zen
Zen merupakan cabang agama Buddha aliran Mahāyāna diasaskan oleh biku Buddha Bodhidharma.
Perkataan Zen adalah dari sebutan bahasa Jepun dari perkataan Cina Chán (禪) yang diambil dari perkataan Sanskrit: ध्यान, rumi: dhyāna[1] yang dapat diterjemahkan sebagai "meditasi" atau "keadaan bertafakur"; ia terbitan kata Sanskrit √dhyā, "mewawas diri, berfikir",[2][3][4] lanjutan kata-kata akar √dhī dan dhī[3] yang mula diungkapkan dalam kitab-kitab Veda sebagai "penglihatan berbayang" (imaginative vision) berkaitan dengan kuasa kebijaksanaan dan pengetahuan dimiliki dewi Saraswati;[4][5] ia turunan akar Proto-Indo-Eropah *√dheie- "melihat".[6][3]
