Woke

Pergerakan Black Lives Matter bertanggungjawab terhadap penggunaan perkataan Woke secara meluas.

Woke (/ˈwoʊk/) sebagai istilah politik Afrika Amerika asal merujuk kepada kesedaran yang dilihat isu-isu berkaitan keadilan sosial dan keadilan kaum.[1] Ia berasal dari ungkapan bahasa Inggeris Vernakular Afrika-Amerika "stay woke", yang aspek tatabahasa merujuk kepada kesedaran yang berterusan mengenai isu-isu ini.

Pada akhir tahun 2010-an, woke telah digunakan sebagai istilah slanga yang lebih umum yang secara luas dikaitkan dengan politik sayap kiri, sebab sosial liberal, feminisme, aktivisme LGBT, dan isu budaya (dengan istilah woke culture dan woke politics juga digunakan). Ini menjadi subjek meme, penggunaan ironis dan kritikan dari beberapa pengulas.[2][3] Penggunaannya yang meluas sejak tahun 2014 adalah hasil pergerakan Black Lives Matter.[1][4]
