Volt (simbol: V) ialah unit daya gerak atau beza keupayaan elektrik.[1] Sebagai contoh, beza upaya elektrik yang dibekalkan ke rumah ialah 240 volt.

Istilah volt diambil daripada nama seorang ahli fizik berbangsa Itali, Alessandro Volta yang mencipta model cerucuk kuasa duluan bateri moden pertama.

Takrifan

Volt ditakrifkan sebagai beza upaya merentasi satu pengalir apabila arus satu ampere melenyapkan satu watt kuasa. Jadi unit asas SI-nya ialah m2 · kg · s-3 · A-1, ataupun sama dengan satu joule tenaga per coulomb cas, J/C.
